Since its founding in 1896,
the DAR Library has grown
into a specialized collection
of American genealogical
and historical manuscripts
and publications.

The Ruth Davidson Chapter, NSDAR, welcomes any woman for membership who is at least eighteen years of age and can prove lineal blood-line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death as well as the Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor. Additional membership information can be found on the Become a Member webpage of the NSDAR website.

A Patriot is anyone, both men and women, who supported the cause for American independence through military, civil, or patriotic service. For a list of acceptable service see the Accepted Revolutionary War Service page for more information. You might be surprised to find that your ancestor gave aid to the Patriots, so do some digging into your family history, get your documentation, and join your local chapter of the DAR.

You may contact us (see menu on the left) for information about how our chapter can help you with the membership process.
