The Thomas Person Chapter, NSDAR, is dedicated to the mission of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children and sponsors activities in each area of focus highlighted by the following:
Historic Preservation
- Mark graves of local American Revolutionary War Patriots
- Support the National Society for preservation of the NSDAR buildings
- Participate in local historic programs, tours, and events
Promoting Patriotism
- Support of United States Veterans
- Participate and support the Wreaths Across America program for veterans
- Observe Veterans Day and Memorial Day
- Partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration organization
Education
- Present Constitution Week programs in elementary schools
- Participate in Bells Across America on September 17 to honor signing of the U.S. Constitution
- Sponsor American History essay contests for students in grades 5 to 8
- Sponsor Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) awards in local high schools
- Sponsor DAR Good Citizens essays for high school seniors
- Contribute to DAR Supported Schools
