Chapter & Membership Information

Chapter History

The Daniel Boone Chapter, NSDAR, in Boone, North Carolina, was organized on 16 October 1966 when a group of women met to honor their Revolutionary ancestors by forming a chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). The chapter’s objectives are to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We were organized with nineteen charter members under the leadership of Mrs. Hadley Wilson. Since our chapter was organized between October 1965 and October 1966, we were honored to be a Diamond Jubilee Chapter, celebrating the seventy-fifth anniversary of the founding of the NSDAR. The chapter name was chosen to honor Daniel Boone, the early explorer and leader.

Activities

Our chapter meetings are held at 12:00 noon on the second Wednesday of the months August through December and March through June. We annually participate in Constitution Week, Service to Veterans, College ROTC, DAR Good Citizen, and other programs of NSDAR and the North Carolina Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NCSDAR). Please contact us for more information about visiting our chapter — see link in left column.

National Membership

Membership is dependent on one’s ability to provide documentation of birth, marriage, and death of Patriots and their descendants. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.

Members of DAR are a vibrant and active group of women who are passionate about performing service to their community, preserving history, and educating children. In addition, the DAR woman honors and supports those who serve our nation.

Potential members are invited and encouraged to contact us. You are welcome to visit one of our meetings where we can answer questions about membership, projects, or activities. Our chapter registrar will be happy to assist with the membership process.

You can visit the NSDAR Membership webpage for more information. Learn about DAR and how to easily begin the membership process.
