Education
- Strongly supports DAR‐sponsored schools
- Supports the Joel Lane Chapter of the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.)
- Awards students through the DAR Good Citizens program and the American History Essay Contest
- Presents ROTC awards to qualifying cadets
Promoting patriotism
- Supports our veterans at the USO Center at RDU Airport and the Durham VA Hospital
- Honors qualifying recipients with our Community Service and Conservation awards
- Attends and supports Naturalization Ceremonies
- Participates in Memorial Day ceremony at the Raleigh cemetery, honoring those who have served
- Observes Constitution Week in September with various activities
Historic preservation
- Supports the National Society for preservation of the NSDAR buildings
- Participates in local historic programs, tours, and events
- Engages in local historic preservation projects such as preservation of historic cemeteries
Programs that focus on member enrichment
- Sponsors our chapter’s historical book club
- Hosts Genie Club, in which our members meet to learn about practical genealogy research and techniques through field trips and other activities
