National Society

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) awards scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, religion, sex or national origin. All four-year college (or higher) scholarships must be for consecutive years and are renewable only upon review and approval of annual transcript by the respective DAR Chairman. All applicants must be citizens of the United States and attend an accredited college or university in the United States.

The National Society also awards American Indian scholarships for those students that are of Native American heritage. The requirements and information can be found on the National Society American Indian Scholarships web page.

North Carolina Society NSDAR State Scholarships

The NCSDAR Cordon Street Endowment Gift Scholarship is granted to worthy students entering or enrolled in academically accredited technical schools, community colleges, or universities.  The 2020 awards shall be $2,000 each to 2 (two) students, for a total of $4,000

The Lucinda B. Findley History Scholarship is for a college junior or senior who is majoring in general history. The 2020 award shall be $1,000

The Mildred H. Showfety Endowment Fund Scholarship is given directly to a graduating Tamassee, KDS, or Crossnore student for additional costs while pursuing post high school training. The 2020 award shall be $1,000 to 1 (one) student.

All scholarship applications are due by January 31st and must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a NCSDAR chapter. (Showfety award excluded). Email the NCSDAR Scholarship Chair for more information.
